Funeral Floral Arrangement Information
- Immediate family and family-type friends usually provide the casket spray or any arrangement that sits on or nearest to the casket or urn.
- Extended family, friends of the family, co-workers of the deceased and co-workers of the family usually select floral arrangements or plants as a token of their regret for the loss.
- It is thoroughly acceptable to send token floral arrangements, plants or fruit & gourmet baskets to the home of immediate family members of the deceased.
- There are no written rules to the types of flowers that are selected. If the deceased is a man, many have a tendency to choose mixed floral arrangements in primary colors, arrangements in a favorite color or exotic flowers such as Bird of Paradise or Protea. If the deceased is a woman, many choose pastels or shades of a favorite color and any combination of all flowers.
- There is no significance just personal preference as to container size, style and price.
- If the deceased belonged to an organization such as a branch of the military, sorority, union or simply had a special hobby, some sort of representation can be created with flowers and forms to bring the floral vision together.
- Banners can be added to any floral piece. It is customary that the words signify the relationship to the deceased. “Beloved Aunt” or “Beloved Husband and Father”. More personal messages are printed or written on a sympathy card.
